Naturalistische borders & bloemrijk grasland
De kleurrijke border ziet er natuurlijk uit. Hier zien we de tuinvariaties van inheemse planten gemengd met tuinplanten die helemaal niet inheems zijn. De planten staan in herkenbare groepen bij elkaar. Veel tuinplanten zijn fantastische nectarleveranciers voor bijen en vlinders. Ze bloeien vaak nog in periodes dat veel inheemse planten al uitgebloeid zijn. Veel inheemse planten zijn behalve goede nectarleveranciers ook waardplanten voor specifieke vlinders en bijen. Ze hebben ze nodig om hun eitjes op af te zetten. Daarom is het belangrijk om in tuinen een juiste combinatie van zowel uitheemse als inheemse planten toe te passen.
Parallel aan de tuinplantenborder zien we nog een kleurige natuurlijk ogende border, die met een onderbreking doorloopt naar het moerasgedeelte in de vijver. De planten hierin zijn inheems in Nederland, maar groeien van nature niet altijd samen. Ze zijn hier gecombineerd om samen een mooi en rijk bloeiend geheel te vormen.
Het bloemrijke grasland dat de poel omarmt lijkt een beetje op de ideale berm in de stad, waar soms niet meer ruimte is dan alleen een smalle strook tussen verhardingen. Dit bloemrijk grasland is beplant met een uitgebalanceerd mengsel met veel diversiteit van inheemse vaste soorten en één-en tweejarigen, dat alsnog één geheel vormt en daarmee rust uitstraalt.
Naturalistic borders and flowerrich grassland
The colourful border looks totally natural. Here we see the garden variations of native plants combined with garden plants which are by no means native. The plants have been clumped in recognisable groups. Many garden plants are fantastic nectar suppliers for bees and butterflies. They continue to flower in periods when many native plants have died down for the season. Besides providing ample nectar, many native plants are also hosts for specific butterflies and bees. They need them as a spot to lay their eggs. It is therefore essential that gardens contain the right combination of both native and non-native plants.
Parallel to the garden border, we see another colourful and natural looking border with a gap in it, which runs to the marshy section of the pond. While the plants here are native to the Netherlands, they do not always naturally grow together. They have been combined to give a beautiful, floweringrich ensemble.
The flowery grassland embracing the pool somewhat resembles the ideal verge in the urban situation, where the space is sometimes limited to a narrow strip between paved areas. This flowery grassland has been planted with a balanced mix of widely diverse native perennials along with annuals and biannuals, to give a cohesive ensemble which radiates a sense of tranquillity.
